I've Never Known the Calm of Galilee

I’ve Never Known the Calm of Galilee
“The Sailor’s Song” - Based on a remark made by Rev. Terry Ransom
At the Church of the Ascension, Cadenabbia, Lake Como

Text: John A. Dalles, July 13, 2006
Tune: EVENTIDE
Meter: 10.10.10.10.

I’ve never known the calm of Galilee,
The quietness that comes at early morn,
I’ve never known the calm of Galilee,
But God has brought me safely through the storm!

My life has been as lone as it can be,
The work I’ve done has taken many forms,
I’ve never known the calm of Galilee,
But God has brought me safely through the storm!

At times, so far from friends and family,
From places that are comfortable and warm,
I’ve never known the calm of Galilee,
But God has brought me safely through the storm

My talks with God are brief and whispered pleas,
Amid the waves and winds that are life’s norm,
I’ve never known the calm of Galilee,
But God has brought me safely through the storm!
