Sing of Proud Banners!

Sing of Proud Banners!
Highland Cathedral Hymn
For Kirkin’ o’ the Tartan

Text: John A. Dalles, January 19, 2007
Tune: HIGHLAND CATHEDRAL*
Meter: 10.10.10.10. with refrain

Sing of proud banners - unfurled and acclaimed!
Praising the heritage by which we’re named!
Sing of the faith transmitted and proclaimed!
Sing, all assembled here, with hearts aflame!
(Refrain, after every verse):
Gladly praise Christ’s majesty!
And worship Jesus joyfully!
Make our Kirk, forever dear,
A highland cathedral, here!

Dream of the thistle, heather, loch and hill!
Sing with the pipes that make our spirits thrill!
Sure of a future that shall hold no ill!
Praising a history that holds us, still!

Faith tells more than eye can see!
And hope extends courageously!
Love shall make our Kirk so dear,
A highland cathedral, here!

God, who will bless us now and evermore,
Build Your cathedral in our hearts, once more,
In every Kirk, on every far-flung shore,
As we proclaim You, God, whom we adore!
